1 Peter…

One of my goals this year was to study through some books in the Bible I had not studied intently. Lately, I have been reading through 1 Peter. The theme of the book is one of encouragement for those enduring a time of suffering. The passages throughout remind the reader that our suffering here on earth is “momentary” and “light” and “temporary.” Some of my favorite verses found in 1 Peter are:

1 Peter 1:3-5

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 2:13

Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human insitution, whether to a king as the one in authority.

 1 Peter3:8-9

To sum up all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit, not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing.

These are just a few verses that I have found to be encouraging and a great reminder of the”blessing” and “sacrifice” of our Savior!
